Service Description

This is Day 1 of the January WORKSHOP WEEKEND. You do not need to book both days, but there is an offer if you do. (This concession rate is self-selected for people who need financial support in order to attend) This workshop held at UEL (University of East London), Stratford will be led by Orley Quick who has been training with David Zambrano for the last few years. The morning will be focussed on Flying Low & after lunch we will explore Passing Through. Orley will share some of her experience gained in these styles, remaining as true to the forms as possible. We will explore getting in and out of the floor, drawing from Flying Low principles, and will also devise creative scores and compositions that consider some ideas from Passing Through. The focus of the day will be to move together as group. Information about Zambrano's techniques: - Flying Low focuses on floor work and a specific system/practice to get you in and out of the ground efficiently, working with varying speeds, whilst always staying connected to the whole group. - Passing Through is a system of moving and improvising in a group, focusing on pathways and ways to move collectively, in, out, through. Once again, the connection to everyone else in the space is paramount. Notes: - Ensure your legs and shoulders are covered (you might prefer a long sleeved top). You'll need to work bare foot. - Please arrive early 10 mins early for these workshops. - This workshop is suitable for people from a range of movement practices, you do not need to have significant dance experience
